If you've read my earlier posts this week, you know I got attacked again for speaking out against d**db**t dads (trying to avoid getting caught in another google search - maybe I should start using the term financially and emotionally-unavailable persons previously determined as parents?). I got angry, depressed, then in fighting back mode, and joined MindyMom in a campaign to get single moms writing open letters to the White House (or, if you'd prefer, please send a letter via snail mail to Pennsylvania Ave.).
Then there was another installment of the X Chronicles. X has moved - again - as I was just getting ready to get my support case re-opened.
Things got a little better when a state senator actually responded to a previous open letter about parental involvement on LA Moms - gave me a little bit of hope. I have not written her back yet, but I do hope that she talks more about parental involvement in terms that are not only productive, but not impossible for many of us.
And then I was humbled, completely, when I saw this.

One day (soon), I want to read his book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.
So I'm doing a personal inventory. I'm attempting to see what I can change that I do control. I've made a lot of progress in these past few years. Time to keep going.

Just when I think I'm doing okay and I get smug or complacent, I see someone like this guy and realize, I've done jack shit to change my world.
Sorry you got attacked. Some people need more to do.
The windmill guy is awesome. His interview was amazing!
The lesson from this man is that we should not listen to the naysayers around us--or those who conspire to get us to close our mouths. Windmills. Do we all need to be Don Quixotes until we are heard and heeded? I cannot believe how insensitive and stupid people are to make talking about d**d b**t former parents anything other than a cause to change the rules and laws. Can we harness the wind--our voices? Problem-solving, don't you think you're doing just that--for your problems like he is doing for his?
I love you; I needed to hear all this today.
Hoping for a good week for you April!
The video inspires us all. Frankly, just what I needed.Thank you so much for posting it. Hope your week-end renewed you.
Perfet video. And I agree with Rebellious Thoughts; we are trying to harness the wind with our voices. Mothers shouldn't have to fight so hard for their kids' rights but we will until we're heard, won't we?
Hope this week is a more realxing one for you.
I hope you have a better week this week. I can't see the video just yet, but it sounds inspirational.
It's the same story one step forward two steps back. So goes life. Nothing to do but keep goingas you said...
That is a remarkable story.
That story makes all my recent whining very childish. Amazing spirit.
I hope you get more positive responses to your letters. Good luck and don't let the haters get you down.
Glad I found you.. from your comment @ singlemommyhood.com. Love it! IT IS ALL ABOUT BALANCE.
I'll visit often.
By the way - LOVED your response to my post today. (Will comment later.)
Meanwhile - as for your "Financially and Emotionally Unavailable Persons" - might I make an alternate suggestion? One that works better as an acronym?
"Financially Unconcerned Character Kiddingly Undertaking Parenting." Hmmm... what might that make when you string those letters together... something accurate, I'd say, though marketing might be problematic.

That kid is awesome. I built a beer bong when I was his age. That's something, right?
"Financially and emotionally-unavailable persons previously determined as parents" I love it!! Don't be put off by those asshats. Keep doing what you're doing.
Wow - inspiring video. Going to send it to my kids!
You are so passionate! Keep thinking positive and moving forward. It's great to do a list of the good stuff - we often get stuck in the not good stuff and that does us no good. I call it doing "life laundry".
