One of the Saddest Texts Ever

Sylvia: "Mom, I'm afraid that you were right that we are going to be so attached that daddy's coming and next think you know he won't come and bails out on us and won't be coming." (Spelling/abbreviations corrected.)

Me: "Did he say he was coming?"

Sylvia: "I don't know."

Me: "I think you just have to think he's not coming, hon."

No reply yet. She's at the Club, and most likely rehearsing, and then my parents are picking her up and they'll spend the night at their house tonight.

I hope she's okay.

And, as horrible as it sounds, it IS a good thing. She's recognizing that he most likely won't come through.

Still sad, though, when you have to lower your children's expectations of their own dad.

Very sad. But you're right. It's probably good that she is able to see the reality of it. But it's still heartbreaking.

Whoa...that is mercifully insightful and mature while being so very, very sad. It hurts my heart to know that is the kind of relationship (no relationship) he has forged with his daughter.

I am sad for Sylvia.

It is good she recognizes it but still so sad. Always sucks to see somrthing happen that could have been prevented.

My older daughter, who is studying in the LA area now, didn't say the right thing to her father on the phone. So now he is not going out to visit with her younger sister. And he had the nerve to say to an 18-year-old who has been on her own for a total of three months: "Have a nice life."

Single mothers. Who dares berate us?

Sending strength to Sylvia.

You have to believe that he will pay...at some point in his life or his afterlife, HE WILL GET PAYBACK and it will be costly...he is losing everything that truly means anything now, so he will be left with nothing...what he deserves.

My sons father told him that he would not lose sleep if he (dad) didn't hear from him (son) anymore. What kind of father does this?
Oh, the asshole kind....

It's so hard when the kids have to learn that their parent is incompetent, thoughtless and a jerk. It's better that they learn it on their own though....
